Press Release
Is it a sprinkler, an object of art or a sculpture? Of course, it's all of these things!
Shown for the first time at Chelsea 2000 WaterDance has been re-launched with a new range of designs under licence from its original designer and creator, Cyr Smith.
Fashioned out of copper, it's the sort of thing that once you've seen it you ask that inevitable question, "Why hadn't someone thought of that before?" It's simplicity that really works. It's functional art!
The designer's approach is to simplify art and here he has perfected a sculptural piece in WaterDance creating perfect form and function.
Crafted in copper and standing 112cm high with a main circle diameter of 38cm, the head spins around gently bathing the garden in a fine mist of water, or with the tap fully opened with only 5lbs of water pressure will throw a 6 meter pyramid of droplets over beds, borders and vegetable plots or set on a pump would make a dramatic permanent feature on any pond.
With a durable 4-point at its base, it can be lifted like any conventional sprinkler and moved around as needed aerating the ground or lawn.
There are no plastic bits to snap, nothing for children or dogs to break, it could last a lifetime. WaterDance can be left outside all year round adding sculptural beauty to its surroundings.
There are 7 different designs available.
Liz Pryor discovered the original product in 1999. She was so completely mesmerized by it that she began importing them in quantity. Says Liz, "I was so entranced by the product that I felt sure it had a place in most Art Lovers and Gardeners homes." Their very first customer at Chelsea was a famous Beatle who sailed up and declared, "I've been looking for these since I saw one in the States. I'll have two."
